Google and UN open an AI-ready data commons
Google and the United Nations launched the UN System Data Commons, an open AI-ready knowledge graph that aims to include 80% of UN system statistical datasets by 2027. Google’s launch account says the platform unifies metrics, timelines and geographic boundaries, exposes them through natural-language queries and MCP workflows, and has each dataset validated by UN statisticians and technical experts; it also warns users to inspect underlying sources before citing critical figures. Teams building research agents should treat provenance and source review as product requirements, not retrieval polish, alongside the archive’s RAG accuracy gate.
