Madison targets 1 GW for AI power

Madison Energy Infrastructure launched an initiative targeting 1 GW of additional distributed energy capacity by 2028 and up to $2 billion in capital to meet AI’s power demand. The company’s announcement says its portfolio spans more than 600 projects in 30 states and includes data-center partnerships, but the $2 billion is mobilized capital rather than a completed spend. Builders sit downstream of this bottleneck: the archive’s analysis of AI data-center grid pressure makes local generation, storage, and permitting part of compute planning.
