Mantic raises $25M after AI forecasting win

Mantic, an AI forecasting startup, raised $25 million in seed funding after its system outperformed every human in the summer 2026 Metaculus Cup and all but one bot, according to Reuters’ report on the round. Radical Ventures led the round, with Microsoft’s M12, Thinking Machines Lab, and Balderton Capital participating; Mantic specializes frontier models for political, economic, and cultural probabilities rather than training a frontier model from scratch. That makes its $25 million a bet on evaluation, calibration, and domain tuning as a product layer—an adjacent lesson to the benchmark economics behind agent-search systems. Builders should file this as a signal that forecast quality can be packaged above base models, but demand out-of-sample calibration and customer-level evidence before treating tournament wins as deployable edge.
