AgentCore holds cold starts near 2 seconds

Amazon Web Services says its new Bedrock AgentCore runtime holds P75 cold-start latency near 2 seconds for container images from 200 MB to 2 GB, versus roughly 5.4 to 30 seconds in the previous runtime. AWS’s launch analysis says the comparison used 5,000 cold invocations per agent across five image sizes, while the new runtime reclaims memory as sessions go cold instead of holding the peak. Teams running bursty agents should canary the runtime and compare billed GB-hours before removing warm pools; the archive’s AgentCore cost model is a useful reminder that lower usage does not make every workload cheaper.
