SK hynix opens AI infrastructure venture arm
SK hynix launched SK hynix Ventures, a Silicon Valley corporate-venture arm, and says its existing CVC activity has returned more than 2× cumulative investment. In its announcement, the company expands its investment brief from semiconductors into AI computing, data centers, system software, and optical interconnects, but discloses no fund size or new cheque; this is an ecosystem signal, not a fresh capacity commitment. Builders should treat SK hynix as a potential strategic partner across memory, networking, and power-efficient infrastructure—not only as a component supplier—and watch which portfolio companies receive joint proof-of-concept work, as Samsung’s $73B AI-memory bet shows where the supply-chain contest is moving.
