Fastly launches two controls for AI traffic
Fastly launched two AI traffic controls—AI Firewall and AI Runtime Control—with immediate availability on September 21. Fastly’s launch post says Runtime Control handles model routing, provider failover, virtual-key spend, and budget limits, while its documentation says AI Firewall inspects requests and responses for prompt-injection attempts. Teams adding agent calls should treat this as another control-plane option, then compare its measured latency, false positives, and budget behavior with the archive’s agent-search cost benchmark before putting it in the request path.
