Microsoft opens India cloud region with three zones
Microsoft opened India South Central, its fourth Indian cloud region, with a resilient three-zone architecture and effectively zero-water cooling, turning part of its $20.5 billion country commitment into live infrastructure. In Microsoft’s India AI infrastructure announcement, the company says the Hyderabad region supports a broad Azure portfolio now while additional Azure and AI services roll out, and offers residency and availability-zone controls for eligible workloads. Regional buyers can start sovereignty and cooling due diligence, but should not treat a new region as universal service availability—the staged-capacity lesson from Anthropic’s Queensland campus applies here too.
