SoftBank launches $10B bond for OpenAI
SoftBank is launching $10 billion in dollar-denominated bonds plus €1 billion in euro notes to help fund its planned $10 billion third-tranche investment in OpenAI, according to CNA’s report on the term sheet. The proceeds will also support general corporate purposes and replace a $10 billion bridge facility; the notes span 3.5, 5.5, and 7.5 years in dollars plus four- and six-year euro maturities. Operators tracking model-vendor concentration should read this beside SoftBank’s earlier ¥1 trillion retail bond: capital is still being assembled around one OpenAI bet, not proof the bet has paid off.
