AstroForge plans a zero-command AI spacecraft

AstroForge plans to put its Solo transformer-based control stack on Autonomy-1, a spacecraft targeted for 2027 that Stoke Space says will operate its mission without commands from Earth, after Solo first flies in shadow mode on DeepSpace-2, according to TechCrunch’s report. The intelligence layer is trained on roughly 2,500 sensors, and AstroForge has raised $56 million while earlier spacecraft suffered anomalies that kept them from most objectives. This is constrained autonomy, not a general space pilot: physical-AI teams should treat shadow-mode telemetry and deterministic fallback paths—like those behind the physical-AI funding analysis—as evidence to collect before handing a model control.
