Google and Gates target 200M farmers with AI
Google and the Gates Foundation are directing $100 million toward AI climate, crop, and language tools aimed at 200 million smallholder farmers, up from 50 million. Google’s announcement says the program spans Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia; the Gates Foundation’s release says the target is built around localized climate and agricultural tools. For builders, this is a distribution target—not outcome evidence: compare it with Anthropic and Gates’ $200M global-health bet and demand adoption, accuracy, and local-language evaluation before counting reach as impact.
