Qualcomm says MoveIt 1 and 2 stay open

Qualcomm’s agreement to acquire PickNik preserves MoveIt 1 and MoveIt 2 under their existing open-source license, with hardware-agnostic support and continued ROS investment. PickNik’s announcement says the project spans 40 repositories, 6,700 GitHub stars, and 4,400 forks, giving robotics developers a concrete read on the software community the chipmaker is inheriting even though deal terms were not disclosed. Teams building on ROS can keep MoveIt in the stack for now, but should watch Qualcomm’s integration roadmap before coupling deployment-critical control paths to Dragonwing; the archive’s physical-AI interface analysis covers why the software boundary matters.
