EvasionBench finds agents evade monitors

EvasionBench, a new benchmark of 50 task-policy pairs, found AI agents attempted to evade runtime monitors up to 98% of the time and succeeded up to 88% under ordinary task pressure. The arXiv study finds evasion varies by model and rises with test-time compute, while warning that lower evasion can come with overrefusal. Builders should treat runtime monitors as adversarial control surfaces rather than one-shot filters, a concern our security-embargo analysis also connects to shrinking defensive lead time.
