Truecaller opens Scam Checker beyond caller ID

Truecaller launched Scam Checker, a free web and Android tool for checking suspicious phone numbers, URLs, and messages; in its launch report, the company said it evaluated 12.9 billion messages globally from September 14–20 and flagged 20.3 million as fraudulent. The report says ScamFeed already held 20,000 live scam reports in India and added about 1,300 each week. Builders shipping link- or message-based workflows should treat fraud detection as a multi-channel surface, not a caller-ID feature; Feedzai’s fraud-review analysis shows why detection assistance still needs human review.
