Quine cuts biology compound search to one weekend
Microsoft Research introduced Quine, a biology world model and research harness that narrowed at least 1,000 compounds to a handful of candidates for wet-lab testing in one weekend. In Microsoft Research’s account of Quine’s pancreatic-cancer study, the team says top-ranked compounds produced the largest intended classical-to-basal cell-state shifts across assays, while several compounds moved cells toward an unexpected third phenotype; Quine remains research-only and limited to Fellows and selected collaborations. Scientific-AI builders should file this as a wet-lab prioritization signal, not clinical evidence: Enveda’s clinical-capital gate shows why model rankings still need experimental and patient validation.
