Gemini Skills replace Gems by June 2027

Google is rolling its reusable Gemini Skills globally and will replace Gems on a staged schedule: personal accounts lose Gems in November, Workspace business, enterprise, and nonprofit accounts in March 2027, and education accounts in June 2027. Google’s announcement says existing Gems will migrate automatically, while Skills are already in Gemini Spark and coming to Workspace customers in weeks. Teams with shared prompt libraries should inventory permissions and file attachments before the migration, then test the resulting skills against the archive’s Google Docs Live account boundary rather than assume the old object model survives.
