SynthID Bio watermarks proteins after synthesis
Google DeepMind says SynthID Bio produced watermarked, biologically functional protein binders across three targets—VEGF-A, SARS-CoV-2 spike RBD, and PD-L1—in wet-lab tests, per the SynthID Bio announcement. The watermark remains verifiable in the synthesized physical protein while matching unwatermarked designs on hit rate, binding affinity, and sequence diversity. Teams building AI-designed biology should treat this as a provenance layer to pair with synthesis screening, not a substitute for it; Isomorphic’s drug-design capital shows why the pipeline is moving toward real lab workflows.
