Barclays targets Claude Code for half its developers

Barclays expects Claude Code to reach 50% of its developer population by the end of 2026, while Claude already supports more than 16,000 colleagues and processes roughly 120,000 emails a day in its Global Markets business. Anthropic’s rollout note says the bank is using Claude for software development, legacy modernization, colleague knowledge search, and email routing; these are vendor- and bank-reported adoption figures, not audited productivity gains. The operator lesson is to measure adoption by workflow and control boundary—not seats—before copying the rollout; the archive’s prompt-cache cost analysis is the adjacent test.
