IBM Bob takes agentic coding into air-gapped clouds
IBM Bob now supports self-hosted deployment in on-premises, private-cloud, sovereign-cloud, and air-gapped environments, while IBM says 68% of surveyed executives find meeting data-residency and sovereignty requirements across geographies challenging. The IBM announcement of Bob’s self-hosted option says customers can run supported licensed models locally or connect external model services in hybrid configurations; it does not publish Bob’s license or infrastructure cost. Teams taking code agents into regulated environments should file this as a deployment-boundary change, not proof that self-hosting is automatically cheaper; the archive’s analysis of regional GPU capacity versus product-specific residency is the same diligence pattern.
