Monid raises $7.7M for agent tool calls
Monid raised $7.7 million to build a shared checkout where AI agents can discover, compare and pay for third-party API calls. The San Francisco startup says its prepaid balance can replace separate vendor accounts, keys and subscriptions, with per-call pricing starting around $0.0013 plus a 10% platform fee. That puts tool access beside model choice in the gateway layer: our OpenRouter analysis of routing as a control point traced why these intermediaries can capture value as agent traffic scales. For builders, the test is whether one integration saves more in maintenance and idle subscriptions than the platform fee costs; this round is a bet on agent-driven tool buying, not proof of adoption.
