Google launches Gemini agent as enterprise use grows

Google announced the Gemini agent for work on October 8, saying nearly 500 Google Cloud customers each processed more than one trillion tokens in the last year. The agent handles knowledge work, media and code through connected business systems, with persistent cloud execution and model selection across Gemini and Claude. That customer-scale figure covers Google Cloud usage and does not establish adoption or success rates for the newly announced agent.
