Google's civic AI reaches 8,000 residents
Google.org says its Sensemaking AI helped Bowling Green, Kentucky, gather input from 8,000 residents for a 25-year growth plan. In Google’s account of the civic-AI program, the new Jigsaw Partner Program lets localities run large-scale civic conversations at no operational cost, with similar work underway in Chattanooga, Riverside, and Kitchener. Builders should file this as a deployment pattern, not proof of policy quality: low-cost synthesis can widen participation, but human review still owns agenda-setting and decisions; the AISI evaluation-and-governance framework shows why consequential AI systems need a visible evidence trail.
